October – Word of the Month:

“The Sword of The Spirit”

Ephesians 6:17, NKJV (emphasis added)
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
I. Sword in Greek is “machaira” and is a short sword or dagger that was used for
stabbing up close in Roman battle.
   A. Through the Spirit of God, the sword is a weapon God has given us in our “Full Armor” package from Ephesians 6:10-18.
   B. While all the other weapons are used primarily for defensive purposes, the
       sword of the Spirit can be used both defensively and offensively.
   C. Defensively, it protects against the temptations, lies, tricks and schemes of
      the devil that are launched against our minds.
          1. When satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, He used the Word as His
             defensive weapon against his attacks to overtake Him (Matthew 4:1-                   11).

          2. Remember, satan does not stand a chance against a believer speaking                  and living the Word of God.

   D. Offensively, we use our sword to speak and advance the purposes and plans
of God. Our voices become the instrument the sword of the Spirit uses to attack,
possess and overtake all darkness and advance the Kingdom of God.

II. The Word of God is the living and powerful force from God that cannot be
prohibited or stopped. It is always sharp, living, active and working for our good
(Hebrews 4:12).

A. In this month and beyond, use the Word of God as your source of power and
strength to speak what you want to come to pass.

1. Your victories are here because your answers are voice activated. For
every situation, test, trial, adversity and challenge, continue to declare the
Word of God with a bold voice in victory.

2. Rest in the fact that as God framed the worlds by the word of His
mouth (Hebrews 11:3), so shall you frame your world by the words of
your mouth. The Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God will
never be defeated!
